Councillor funds Burntwood event for carers

Carers in Burntwood and Lichfield have picked up helpful advice thanks to funding from a local councillor.

The Carers Fish for Information day – backed by Cllr Steve Tranter – was organised by the Carers Association Southern Staffordshire (CASS) and gave bite sized information sessions on home first aid and lifting and moving, key aspects of being a carer.

Carers who attended the Burntwood event also received complementary therapies and live entertainment as well as a fish and chip lunch.

Debbie Hill from CASS said:

“Caring can be an isolated role and one you don’t receive any training for. Following feedback from our monthly Alzheimer Cafes we decided to support carers by offering these bite sized information sessions within the setting of a relaxed day with entertainment and therapies to give carers a break from their caring role.”

If you are a carer and would like to know more about the services offered by CASS please contact 01785 606675 or enquiries@carersinformation.org.uk.
