ATN Rangers 1 Chasetown Ladies 5

Sinead Treanor was the hero as Chasetown Ladies came out on top in their Staffordshire County Women’s Football League clash against a well organised ATN Rangers side.

ATNhad the better of the early exchanges but were caught offside too often by the Chasetown defence.

On 15 minutes Chasetown took the lead. Some good approach play saw a series of shots blocked before the ball fell to Treanor on the edge of the box and she struck a drive past the diving keeper into the net.

The goal saw the Scholars ease off and ATN punished them with an equaliser from Victoria Atherton.

It took a while for Chasetown to get going again. Eventually Treanor collected the ball from around the centre circle, took on three ATN players, played a neat one-two with Natasha Whitehouse  on the edge of the box, rounded another defender and neatly tucked the ball past the keeper.

The Chasetown goalscorer completed her hat-trick before half time following a good cross from Sarah Thompson.

Ten minutes into the second half saw a change as Abi Picken came on for Heather Loynes. This meant a major reshuffle of the team to move Charlotte Bull further forward.

Treanor had nicked her fourth before the Bull scored the goal of the match. A strong run from wide and Jade Arber slipped the ball through for Bull to lash the ball home from a tight angle.

The player of the match award went to Nicci Barter for a series of strong challenges at the back to keep ATN at bay.
