Two solicitors from Lichfield law firm Ansons Solicitors are running this year’s London Marathon in aid of two worthwhile causes.

Marie Tisdale is raising funds for The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and Gemma Eldon is running for The Gentlemen’s Night Out Charitable Trust which helps children with physical disabilities.

Marie is aiming to raise £1,500 and people can sponsor her by making a donation online. She said:

“I am running for a cause which is close to my heart as I lost my brother, Anthony to muscular dystrophy when he was 13.”

Gemma wants to raise £1,000 and has a donation page at www.justgiving.com/Gemma-Eldon.  She added:

“It is going to be a tough challenge, but I know the fact that I will be running for an exceptional cause will get me through the 26.2 miles.”

Both are keen runners having completed numerous 10 kilometre and half marathons in the past, but the London Marathon on April 25 will be their first attempt at the full marathon.

In preparation for the race the pair have increased their training, running in excess of 40 miles per week and reaching distances of up to 23 miles.

Marie and Gemma are also organising a fundraising disco at St Matthews Sports and Social Club in Burntwood on April 17 to help boost their sponsorship cash total. Tickets are £3 with all proceeds going to their respective charities.  Contact Marie Tisdale at [email protected] for more information.
