Veteran Liberal Democrat politician takes to the stage in Lichfield

shirleywilliamsThere will be political tales aplenty when veteran Liberal Democrat politician Baroness Shirley Williams takes to the stage in Lichfield.

Her one woman show reveals what life is like behind the closed doors of the Westminster corridors of power.

Famous as one of the Gang of Four who broke away from Labour to found a new political party – the Social Democratic Party, she was also instrumental in the creation of the Liberal Democrats after the 1987 election.

In 1993 she became a peer and chose to use her old constituency of Crosby in her title – Baroness Williams of Crosby. She served as the party’s spokesperson on Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and was later elected Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords.

Shirley Williams will be at the Lichfield Garrick on April 20 at 7.30pm. To book tickets online visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com or call the box office on 01543 412121.
