Bushes, trees and shrubs have added an extra ‘touch of green’ to the gardens of the energy conscious new community centre by a firm of Lichfield architects.

The new plants at St John’s Community Centre in Kingstanding were presented to Father Michael White, Parish Priest, by Mark Williams and Andrew Hayward, directors of Lichfield-based Brownhill Hayward Brown who designed the innovative community project adjacent to Christ the King Catholic Church in Warren Farm Road.

The 360sq m, multi-purpose facility has been designed to exceed current building standards and utilises sustainable energy sources including photovoltaics, solar, ground source heat, rainwater harvesting and natural ventilation.

Andrew said:

“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work on such an inspirational community project and make such an appropriate contribution to the scheme.”
