Pulses are set to race when a powerful and sensual play comes to the Lichfield Garrick.

Based on Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, which played to great scandal when it was first performed in 1912, David Hare’s acclaimed adaptation – The Blue Room – brings this particular love story up to date, and loses none of its power or controversy.

Made famous by Nicole Kidman in the West End, the play is a highly charged assessment of love and lust depicted through a series of dangerous liaisons that cross social divides.

Hot on the heels of critically acclaimed shows – such as Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,  Waiting For Godot and Ladies’ Day – The Lichfield Garrick Rep Company continues to attract nationally acclaimed actors to its stage. Starring in The Blue Room are Ty Glaser and Robert Curtis.

Ty has a wealth of TV credits to her name, including most recently Above Suspicion (ITV), Hotel Babylon (BBC) and The Bobby Moore Story (BBC2). Robert Curtis has just finished filming The Sarah Jane Adventures and has recently reprised his role for the film version of Hamlet for the BBC.

Garrick Rep Producers, Tom Roberts and Adrian Jackson, said:

“This is another coup for the Rep Company. We are establishing a reputation for quality theatre here at the Garrick. We are trying to push the boundaries a little with each season we put on and this play is no exception. We take great care in casting the best actors and we’re delighted with who we have onboard this time round.”

The Blue Room runs from May 21 to June 5 in the Lichfield Garrick Studio. Tickets are available online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the box office on 01543 412121. The show is not suitable for under 16s.
