Police appeal after man is found injured in a Lichfield street

Police are appealing for information after a man was found injured in a Lichfield street.

The 43-year old was found with head injuries in The Close by ambulance crews who took him to hospital. It is thought he had been assaulted sometime before 10pm on Saturday (April 10th) in the area close to Lichfield Cathedral including Beacon Street.

It is known he left the Duke of York pub at around 7.30pm but his movements after that time are unclear.

Detective Constable Sonia Milligan of Trent Valley CID said:

“We are currently examining CCTV coverage in the city in an attempt to trace his movements. However, we would appeal for anyone who heard or witnessed a disturbance in or around The Close or in Beacon Street before 10pm, or anyone with any information, to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

The man has now been released from hospital at Stafford but is expected to undergo further treatment for his injuries.
