A former resident of a Lichfield house where a car ploughed through the wall has revealed how the road outside the property has long been a problem.

One of the current occupants of East Lodge on the Tamworth Road had a lucky escape when a car careered through the wall at 11pm last night (April 20th) as he sat on the sofa.

The 23-year-old man escaped without serious injury after the accident at the house, which sits opposite the junction with Whittington Common Road.

But photographer John Snowdon, who once lived at the address, claims that it is not the first time cars have ventured onto the property.

He said:

“I used to live in East Lodge years ago and had a couple of cars unexpectedly end up the garden. It is a dangerous bend and junction and it seems to catch drivers out.”

Two people who were in the car at the time of the latest accident were able to get out of the vehicle before being taken to hospital for checks.

The vehicle was left embedded in the house after the accident due to fears that a chimney above could collapse.
