A Simon Deeley brace and a goal apiece from Matty Clay and James Lawson sealed the win over Chelmsley and strikes from Clay, Lawson and Chris Ashley gave Dean Gilbert’s men maximum points at the weekend.

Those back-to-back wins fired Lichfield back into second spot in the Midland Combination Second Division table, much to the delight of the City boss.

Gilbert said:

“The lads have been superb of late. It was a solid performance against Chelmsley and, to a man, they were excellent on Saturday.

“We are playing a lot of games but nobody is moaning. The lads are getting on with things and playing really well. We just want to keep moving forward.

“We’re 11 points behind the leaders with 12 points still up for grabs and our aim is to win our remaining four fixtures. The club is buzzing and we want a strong finish.”

City entertain Continental Star Reserves on Wednesday (April 28th), kick-off 6.45pm at Brownsfield Park, before travelling to Feckenham on Saturday (May 1) and AFC Smethwick next Monday (May 3).
