As Lichfield Diamonds U15 close in on the league title this game against third placed Alveston was a potential banana skin and with the visitors attacking from the off the city side knew straight away they had to be on their toes.

The home side weathered the early storm and began to get on top, two excellent shots from Livermore drifted agonisingly wide, but these were only sighters and with the third chance she made no mistake.

It soon became 2-0 as the keeper took her eye off the ball and fumbled in front of Livermore who was left with a tap in.

A good run through the heart of the defence saw Shannon B-Jones slide the ball past the keeper only to see it rebound off the post befor Livermore completed a first half hat-trick.

Again Alveston came out all guns blazing at the start of the second and this time it was rewarded with a goal as several Diamonds players began kicking air and not the ball.

Fortunately another Livermore goal quickly killed off any hopes of a comeback.

On a hot day and with a midweek game coming up Diamonds relaxed and played out time. With the last kick of the game Alveston were rewarded for their hard work and some good football as they pulled another goal back.

The result leaves Diamonds needing three wins from their last five games to be crowned champions.
