Police appeal after accident near Lichfeld

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash near Lichfield.

The accident happened on Plantation Lane between Hopwas and Tamworth at 1.15am this morning (April 28th).

A 49-year-old man from Kent suffered serious injuries after being hit by a silver Ford Focus.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:

“The pedestrian suffered serious injuries including fractures and a head injury. He was taken to Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital where he is currently under sedation awaiting further treatment. His family are aware of the collision.

“The Ford driver, a man from Lichfield, received hospital treatment for minor injuries.”

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who, prior to the accident, saw a man walking in the area whose behaviour or appearance may have given them cause for concern, to ring PC 5524 Dan Clark from Lichfield Police on 0300 123 4455.
