New part time jobs have been created to help people back to work in Lichfield and Burntwood.

The Community Buddies posts aim to motivate people who have been on Incapacity Benefit for some time to take steps towards returning to employment.

Jill Norman, Chief Officer at Staffordshire Moorlands Community and Voluntary Services, which is managing the project, said:

“We are inviting people who are interested in these jobs to attend one of three recruitment days taking place in Cannock, Hanley and Lichfield during May.

“This project runs for three years and aims to help people who have been on Incapacity benefit for a while to tackle some of their barriers to taking up a job or running their own business.

“We are looking for Community Buddies who understand their local communities and who are keen to help people move forward.”

The communities of Chasetown, Curborough and Chadsmead are among those being targeted by the Advantage West Midlands-funded scheme.

Those interested in the job of Community Buddy should ring Jill on 01538 381356 or Malcolm Beardmore on 01538 398689 by May 7 to find out more about the job and book a place on one of the recruitment days.
