Baby girl airlifted to hospital after crash in Lichfield

A baby girl was flown to hospital and three women were injured after the car they were travelling in collided with a tree in Lichfield.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of the A5206 and A38 in Lichfield at around 3pm on Saturday (May 15).

A spokeswoman said:

“Crews arrived to find a car which had been in collision with a tree and barrier. An 18 month old girl suffered a head injury in the crash. She was immediately assessed and treated at the scene before being flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“Three women from the car, all believed to be in their 20s and 30s, sustained neck and back pain in the crash. Crews immobilised the three women with neck collars and spinal boards as a precaution before they were transferred by land ambulances to Good Hope Hospital.

“Unbelievably, no one in the car had been properly restrained with a seatbelt. They were therefore incredibly lucky not to have suffered more serious or even fatal injured.”
