Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant is lending his voice to a charity buskathon in the city.

The Conservative MP, who regained his seat at the general election, will be joining the event at Speakers’ Corner on Dam Street on May 22.

And he has promised to join in the fun by singing a mystery hit.

He explained:

“Following my ‘performances’ at the Election Hustings, I will be taking it all a step forwards by busking for charity at around noon on May 22. I am looking forward to singing a mystery number and hope that everyone will join in the chorus and not heckle.

“Despite the coalition Government with the Liberal-Democrats and strong rumours to the contrary, I can reveal that I will not be singing Tie a Yellow Ribbon round the old Oak Tree!  However, I will be singing a song that goes back almost to my pirate radio days.

“I can confirm that any money thrown into my hat will not be used to supplement my expenses.”

The event will be part of Buskathon being held 9am to 7pm on May 22 and 23 and is being organised by busker Bruford Low (otherwise known as Dave Simcox). Funds raised will go towards FUSE.

Anyone who fancies joining in the buskathon or wants to lend a hand can email [email protected].
