Lichfield and Burntwood residents are being urged to take part in St Giles Hospice’s Super Summer Raffle to raise money for the charity.

The raffle promises entrants the chance to win a jackpot of £5,000 as well as 250 additional prizes ranging in value from £5 to £2,000. Tickets cost just £1 each and can be purchased from St Giles Hopsice shops, representatives and their web site or by calling 0845 370 6580.

St Giles Hospice is a registered charity, based in Lichfield, which offers high-quality medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses throughout a large area of the Midlands from it’s facilities in Whittington and Sutton Coldfield. It also provides home-based care across the region. With running costs of £6 million every year, the charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising with only a third of it’s income coming from Government support.

Last year’s summer raffle raised £50,000 and St Giles are hoping to achieve the same again. Richard Simmonite, Commercial Manager of the St Giles Hospice Lottery, says: “Alongside our regular weekly hospice lottery, the Super Summer Raffle is a fabulous opportunity for people to win some big cash prizes while raising much-needed funds for a worthwhile local cause.

“Every penny of our profits go directly towards providing hospice care, so even those who are not fortunate enough to be a winner know their money is being well spent.”

Books of tickets are available for supporters to sell to family and friends or work colleagues. All tickets must be returned by Saturday 31st July with the draw taking place on Friday 13th August 2010.
