Lichfield car parks to close for Bower Day

carparksignLichfield District Council are reminding residents that some Lichfield car parks will be closed this bank holiday weekend in preparation for the Bower weekend.

Bird Street car park (aka Woolworths car park) will close at noon on Friday 28th May, re-opening on Wednesday 2nd June at 9am.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Redcourt city centre car park and Bunkers Hill car park will also be closed to allow the Bower festivities to take place.

Police Mutual, on Queen Street will open up their car park to shoppers from 10am-4pm on Saturday 29th May and will be taking charity donations.

Councillor Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Operational Services, said:

“The Lichfield Greenhill Bower festivities are one of the highlights of the year, when the community comes together to enjoy a carnival atmosphere and fantastic entertainment over the long weekend.

“We know Lichfield gets very busy at this time, so we’ve asked Police Mutual to once again open up their car park to visitors. We’re very grateful they have agreed to do so on Saturday 29 May, and we hope this will mean everyone can find a parking space, while at the same time raising money for a worthwhile cause.

“We’d also like to remind visitors not to forget about Lombard Street car park. It is within easy reach of the city centre and Three Spires shopping centre, and usually has spaces available, especially on the lower level. It is also free after 3pm, as we have decided to continue our popular special offer into the summer.”

A map of all the car parks in Lichfield is available from the council web site.
