Lichfield woman charged with causing 83 year old’s death

A 54 year old woman has been charged by Staffordshire Police with causing death by dangerous driving following an incident on Beacon Street.

The woman was arrested end held in custody at Tamworth police station after the incident on Friday.

Detectives charges the woman on Saturday night with one charge of causing death by dangerous driving and one charge of failing to provide a breath specimen.

Police charged the woman after the Chief Superintendent granted a six hour extension to the time the woman could be held in custody. She will appear in court on Bank Holiday Monday to face both charges.

The 83 year old man killed in the incident will be formally identified sometime today.
