One of Lichfield’s most successful and long-established parsnip growers have just created a new limited company by dividing the business into two separate sections after more than 25 years.

R&RW Bartlett, who farm more than 700 acres of land in the Shenstone and Whittington areas, have turned the packing and marketing section of their business into a limited company.

The growing and harvesting of over 10,000 tonnes of parsnips a year will stay under the jurisdiction of the original R&RW Bartlett partnership and both businesses will still be headed up by father and son team Roy and Rod Bartlett.

The partnership has been in existence for over 25 years although the Bartlett family has been farming in the Lichfield area for over 100 years.

Rod explained:

“The formation of the limited company (R&RW Bartlett Ltd) was just a logical step to take. The farming and growing split easily from the packing and marketing so there won’t be any major changes to the way we continue in the future.

“It will just allow us to run the two businesses in a more efficient and time effective manner.”

Colin Rodrigues, head of corporate law at Birmingham’s Michael Duffy Partnership and Steven Ward, of Dudley’s Hawkins Hatton solicitors, helped organise the changes.
