Meeting on future of Burntwood’s tip to be broadcast live online

A meeting which will see the future of Burntwood’s tip is set to be streamed online.

Staffordshire County Council’s Corporate Review Committee will be broadcast live from 2pm today (June 29).

One of the items up for discussion will be proposals to close the Household Waste Recycling Centre.

The tip is due to close on July 5 as part of what Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Infrastructure Robert Marshall said was an “ongoing reassessment of all aspects of the county council’s operations to ensure maximum value for money and efficiency for the tax payer”.

But the swift nature of the decision has angered local residents and Lichfield District Councillor Steve Norman (Lab, Summerfield) who began an online petition against the decision.
