Police have said they will not give up on bringing the killers of a Chasetown man to justice.

Richard Deakin, 27, died after being shot at his home in Meadway Street on July 5, 2010.

Although it has been a year since he was killed, detectives say the hunt for those behind his death continues.

Det Ch Insp Dave Garrett, who is leading the inquiry, said:

“A year on from Richard’s tragic murder, we remain fully committed to bringing his killers to justice. Richard’s death devastated his family and we’re continuing to offer them our full support.”

The offenders used a black Vauxhall Corsa which was found abandoned less than a mile away in Coppy Nook Lane, off Hospital Road, Burntwood. A photo of the car has been released in a bid to jog memories.

Two men, aged 61 and 33, from the Bilston area, were arrested last month (June) in connection with the murder and remain on police bail pending further inquiries.

Det Ch Insp Dave Garrett added:

“A £20,000 reward posted in December during an appeal on Crimewatch still stands. We hope this will prompt further calls as we continue to encourage people who know anything about Richard’s murder to come forward.

“Anyone with information should ring the incident room on 01785 233600. All calls we receive are treated in the strictest confidence. If people don’t want to speak directly to an officer, they can ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”

Mr Deakin moved to Chasetown with his fiancee Megan in 2008 where they lived with their daughters, Ellie (5) and Jessica (3). He was alone in the house at the time of his murder.
