A £500,000 investment to improve a main commuter route near Lichfield is set to begin.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways team will be carrying out the major £500,000 upgrade along Aldridge Road from early April.

Workers will replace damaged kerbs and rebuild the carriageway on the A452 between Chester Road and Forge Lane.

County Councillor Erica Bayliss said: “This investment will greatly improve the busy A452, bringing with it a boost to the local economy.

“Well maintained highways with good links to motorways and A roads are a key factor in attracting new businesses – and creating more jobs for Staffordshire’s residents.

“There are some big long terms benefits to this scheme but, as with any major project, there will be a certain amount of disruption in the short term. I would like to thank residents, motorists and visitors for their patience.

“I would also remind people that access to properties and businesses will remain throughout the scheme.”

The work will be carried out from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday for around 16 weeks.

Traffic flows will initially be controlled using temporary traffic signals, but sections of the carriageway resurfacing will be undertaken under a series of temporary road closures. More details will be issued closer to the time.

Great press reese. The A452 *is* the Chester road. All we know is it’s in the Forge Lane… area.

Ummm. Well done, Staffordshire.

Indeed, Bob, it doesn’t make sense. I’ve asked them twice to clarify, but they seem to believe that twitter is a one way medium. The A452 is my route to work, so I’m hoping that they mean the A454.
