Problem parkers are being targeted outside a Lichfield school.
Complaints had been received about cars parked illegally outside the Willows Primary School.
However, officers from Staffordshire Police have reassured residents that the issue is being dealt with.
In a newsletter to Curborough residents, a spokesperson said: “We are working with council enforcement officers and the school to resolve the problem, offering advice to drivers and undertaking parking enforcement where necessary.”
Pupil power will also be used to solve the problem with the introduction of a “Ziggy Zaggy” education scheme.
“This involves working with children to promote general road safety, and to encourage parents to give greater consideration to the hazards they cause when parking inconsiderately,” the spokesperson continued.
“We ask that drivers are considerate to residents by not obstructing driveways and footpaths.”

How many tickets have been isued and paid? – I will make a guess – ZERO!
How about providing some proper parking as there isn’t enough around any school never mind just primary schools. This has been a problem for a very long time and will NOT be solved by reducing the very limited parking currently available. The vast majority of people have to travel to pickup / drop off their children. Once they get there they then end up having to circle for a while waiting for a space or park a long way from their destinations. Both these circumstances contribute to waisted petrol / diesel, traffic jams and children being late to school.
It’s no different outside any of the Lichfield schools. Outside NetherStowe becomes as wide as the Cresta Run, while the situation outside St Michael’s and St Joseph’s Primary Schools is absolutely crazy. The powers that be didn’t help either by painting in more yellow lines outside those two schools. Until more is done to stagger school times and provide viable alternative methods of school transport, particularly outside junior and primary schools, then this situation isn’t going to get any better. Perhaps schools could be encouraged to stagger class times and operate some sort of drop-off/pick-up system?
It might help if more kids walked to school…like we did when I was their age…yes, I’m a grumpy old fart.
Parents/carers who persistently park inconsiderately, whether there is plenty of parking or not will continue to do so, as they have been educated at the ‘one rule for one and one rule for another’ school. We have special constables patrolling the area on occasions reminding drivers where to park, the head teacher is at the front gate some mornings, reinforcing the message. Nothing ever changes.
