Time is running out for people in Lichfield and Burntwood to take advantage of a free insulation offer.

Through its Warmer Homes, Greener District initiative, Lichfield District Council is working with Rockwarm, an energy saving solutions company, to offer its residents free loft and cavity wall insulation.

The offer has been extended over the summer, but will finish in the autumn when the government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Targets (CERT) funding, which pays for the work, comes to an end. This will mean that householders will soon need to pay the full price to insulate their homes.

Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for housing, health and environmental protection, said: “Now is the perfect time to prepare for winter and insulate your home.

“This offer, which is available to all householders regardless of age or income, is a fantastic way to install energy saving measures. However, time is running out as it will only be available until the autumn.

“I would urge anyone who has not insulated their home yet to call the new free phone number to find out more and book a free no obligation home energy survey.”

The extension of the free insulation scheme comes at the same time as the council is launching its new energy advice line.

It will offer help on:

  • affordable warmth measures
  • problems with heating and hot water
  • fuel bills
  • fuel debt
  • energy efficiency and renewable technologies
  • answering local enquires about the energy saving measures offer and booking in the work.

“We’re delighted our residents will benefit from a team of specialist advisors,” added Cllr Pritchard. “They will be offering valuable information, including making sure local homes are on the right fuel tariffs, hopefully helping to bring energy bills down across the district.”

To book a free no obligation home survey by a trained surveyor who can advise you on what level of insulation your home needs, please call the free phone number 0800 677 1543. For more information, visit www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/warm.

As part of its Warmer Homes, Greener District initiative, Lichfield District Council is also extending its free solid wall insulation offer.

Qualifying homeowners can order two rolls of Sempatap Thermal, adhesive and installation instructions for free. Usually selling at around £225 a roll, the insulation is applied like wallpaper and only needs to go on the inside of exterior walls.

The offer is available to Lichfield district owner occupiers that are over 60 years of age, or disabled, or have any children under the age of 16 living in their home and in receipt of a benefit – such as child tax credit, council tax benefit, income support or attendance allowance.

If your household does not quality for the offer, but you are still interested in buying a roll of internal wall lining, the council, through the West Midlands Warmer Walls Project, is also offering Sempatap Thermal insulation at a cut price of £169.20 a roll.

To find out more, or to make an order, call the new energy advice line for free on 0800 677 1543.
