Parents in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded about how they can find out whether schools in the area are closed because of bad weather.

Staffordshire County Council’s website has a regularly updated list of closures, while a mobile version of the page is also available.

The web page also has details of planned closures such as inset days.

County Councillor Ian Parry explained: “We know parents need information on school closures quickly, so this latest innovation is designed to give them the information they need quickly and ensure that it’s up to date.

“We also realise that parents may be on the move, or may not have access to a PC, which is why the site can be viewed on a smart phone or tablet device.

“Schools will also benefit tremendously from this, as it means headteachers no longer have to physically get to school in order to update and inform parents that the school is closed. They can ensure their staff and the wider school community have the latest information without having to leave their home in times of bad weather.

“Of course, parents can still get closure information from their local radio station, but this just gives them another way of seeing if their children’s school is closed in times of bad weather.”
