Beavers, cubs and scout groups joined together to raise money for Sport Relief in a charity cross country race.

Mor than 230 children gathered to compete in the race, which was held at Leomansley common at the end of March.

Organised by 5th Lichfield Cubs Group, the event helped to raise more than £230.

“It was great to see so many boys and girls taking part in the races,” Spencer said. “Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a good time whilst raising money for such a worthwhile cause.”

Katy Creaser, District Commissioner for Lichfield said: “Scouting in Lichfield continues to expand and develop with new and exciting activities, like our cross country run for young people across the district.”

The annual event saw a large amount of support from volunteers and group leaders all helping to co-ordinate and manage the largest number of runners the race has had, beating figures from previous years.

Katy added: “I am always amazed at the scale of events our volunteers deliver.

“It takes many pairs of hands to deliver these exciting events for our young people and we benefit from so many skilled volunteers within Lichfield Scouting.“
