Time running out for Lichfield and Burntwood residents to register for European elections vote

Time is running out for people in Lichfield and Burntwood to register to vote in the European Parliamentary elections.

The poll takes place on May 22 and Lichfield District Council is urging residents to make sure their names are on the electoral register.

Anyone who has moved house since February 17 may need to re-register, while anyone who does not receive a polling card before April 28 is also being asked to contact the council.

Diane Tilley, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: “People are talking about the elections, but you will only be able to have your say on who represents you in the European Parliament if you are registered to vote by the deadline May 6.

“Many people think they are automatically registered because they pay council tax, but this isn’t true. If you are not sure, please call our elections team to double check.”
