Burntwood Town FC hit Barton United for six

Burntwood Town FC moved within a win of climbing out of the bottom two with a resounding 6-0 triumph over local rivals Barton United.

The result sees Town go within two points of 14th placed FC Stratford in the Midland Football Combination Division Two with a game in hand – and their next fixture against them on Saturday (April 19).

Six different goalscorers were on target in midweek as Luke Holmes, Jordan Kent, Jonathan Letford, Dean Williams, Thomas Green and Ryan Wilkins found the net.

Barton, meanwhile, have seen their season implode since Christmas and title hopes have been replaced with a desperate bid to halt a further slide down the table.

They could drop to 1oth if they fail to pick up a point at home to Badsey Rangers in their final league game of the season on Saturday.
