Burntwood teenager Stephen Sutton has seen his incredible fundraising total smash the £2million mark.

The figure is double the target he hoped to raise before his battle with incurable cancer ends.

Celebrities – led by comedian Jason Manford – have been urging people across the globe to donate to Stephen’s effort to raise the money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Names from the world of showbiz, comedy and sport including Russell Brand, Rebecca Adlington, Sir Chris Hoy, Steve Coogan and Russ Abbott have joined the #thumbsupforStephen campaign.

Stephen had sent a message out on Facebook earlier this week saying that he feared he was making his last post.

But he has since taken to social media once more to tell supporters he is “still fighting”.

He wrote: “I am still in a very vulnerable position.

“I am very limited in what I can do and am still permanently hooked up to oxygen. But I am in high spirits and blessed to have so much love and support around me.

“To get to see the million pound fundraising target being reached was just phenomenal.

“The plan is to take things day by day. Just keep on keeping on like I always have.

“I will try and update when I can, but my health and staying alive is obviously my main priority at the moment.

“The battle is physically and mentally very demanding, but I am happy – and that’s the main thing.”

People can still donate via Stephen’s JustGiving page.
