Armed robber takes cash in raid on Burntwood pharmacy

Police are hunting for an armed robber after a raid in Burntwood.

The Lloyds Pharmacy on Lichfield Road was targeted at 10.40am today (June 6). A man threatened staff with a gun before fleeing with cash.

Armed police were called and sniffer dogs searched the area and found the weapon – believed to be a BB gun – nearby.

A police spokesperson said: “The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 20s, 5ft 8ins tall with short mousey brown hair and he wore a grey hooded top with his face covered.

“It is believed he fled the area in a black VW Passat accompanied by two other men.

“An investigation into the incident is underway and a forensic examination will take place at the pharmacy. Officers are continuing to search the area with assistance from the Air Support Unit.”
