Simon Price, the CEO of cutlery and gift firm Arthur Price, has been given the British Independent Retailers Association Charitable Champion Award for 2014.

He picked up the honour for his work in helping to create and chair the We Love Lichfield fund which has raised £250,000 for voluntary groups across Lichfield and Burntwood in just three years.has raised £1/4 million for voluntary groups across the district of Lichfield. Ironically he couldn’t collect the award himself because he was preparing for a We Love Lichfield event the next morning, giving away £7000 to various groups. David Smyth, Chair of BHETA kindly collected the award on Simon’s behalf and is pictured below presenting it to Simon.

As well as the award, the winner receives a cheque for £1000 for the chosen charity and the money has already been put straight into the We Love Lichfield fund which will be used to help voluntary groups make a difference across the district.

Simon Price said: “I am very humbled by this award. There is no better feeling than giving and in the last three years I have had the privilege of meeting so many people in my local area who make a difference. When We Love Lichfield awards its grants, the recipients thank me but I more importantly thank them because I genuinely feel that without the hard work and dedication of the people in voluntary groups across the whole of the UK, society would not be as good.”
