The series has become a best-seller for children and is likely to be a popular draw.

“Nick’s here to bring it all to life and give his audience a science lesson they will never forget,” a spokesperson said.

Bookworms will be entertained at the George Hotel with Irving Finkel talking about The Ark Before Noah – Decoding the Story of the Flood from 2pm, before Alison Weir discusses her novel about Elizabeth I – The Marriage Game – at 3.45pm.

The Lady Chapel at Lichfield Cathedral continues the young artist series at 11am with a performance by trombone player Peter Moore, winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year award in 2008 when he was just 12.

There’s more music in Lichfield Cathedral at 8pm when Jan Garbarek and the Hilliard Ensemble appear.

The touring troupe of La Navet Bete bring their Once Upon a Time in a Western show to the Garrick from 8pm, while the Garrick Studio hosts comedy duo Lipservice and the Hysterical History Show at the same time.
