Future of Lichfield’s Jigsaw community hub is secured

The future of the Jigsaw community hub in Lichfield has been secured after Fusion Credit Union formally took over the running of the facility.

Doubts were cast over the long-term status of the Dimbles Lane facility due to cuts at Lichfield District Council.

But Fusion signed an agreement earlier this year to manage the Jigsaw shop and is working alongside users of the centre, including the North Lichfield Initiative.

Peter Selwyn, Fusion’s President, said: “We expressed an interest in taking over the management of Jigsaw and are very pleased that Fusion was selected by Lichfield District Council to help maintain this valuable resource for the community.

“Jigsaw will remain available to local organisations to use as before.”

As part of the handover, Fusion’s administration office has transferred from Support Staffordshire’s Lichfield offices in Bore Street to Jigsaw on Dimbles Lane. This has allowed the credit union collection point to extend its opening hours, and Fusion is now open from Monday to Saturday, between 9.30am and 12noon.

“Opening six mornings rather than the previous two has seen a boost in people opening accounts, depositing savings and taking out loans, which is great news for Fusion, and it’s good to know that we’re helping the local community,” Peter added.
