Burton’s tenure will begin with the home clash against Salop on Saturday (August 9).

The Greens will continue their warm-ups with a trip to Sale on August 16 and Loughborough University on August 23, before wrapping things up with a home tie against Old Patesians on August 30.

Lichfield’s league season will begin on September 6 at Old Halesonians.

A spokesperson said: “The majority of last season’s squad have been retained, however, Dave Abel and Tom Adams have hung up their boots due to work commitments.

“The club has welcomed several new players into the fold including Harvey Wootten, a centre who has previously played for Walsall, and Kevin Birt, a prop who has turned out for Bournville, Rugeley and Stourbridge.

“As always, we are on the lookout for new players of all abilities, with the 1st XV looking to establish themselves back in the National Leagues, the 2nd XV hoping to maintain their dominance of last season and the 3rd XV continuing to play competitive social rugby.

“If you would like any further information on the club or are interested in joining please email Dave Bassett or call 07985 415820.”
