Every A-Level student at a Lichfield school is celebrating after securing their chosen university places.

Lichfield Cathedral School saw a 100 per cent pass rate, with 43 per cent of grades being A* to B.

Susan Hannam, deputy head, said: “As ever, this is a very impressive set of results and I am thrilled that all of our students have secured places at a university of their choice.

“Our Sixth Formers work incredibly hard, not just from an academic perspective, but as leaders of the school, organising multiple fundraising events, coaching younger children and undertaking services to the community, all of which takes dedication, enthusiasm and an unselfish approach to sharing their time and talents.

“We are all extremely proud of what they have achieved and the impact they have had in the local and international community, particularly through their work with the Waterloo Schools project in Sierra Leone, improving the lives of children and refugees who would otherwise be denied an education.

“I am sure that the students wish to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the teaching staff who work tirelessly to help students achieve their best and exceed their own expectations.”

Among the top performers was Daniel Payne, who achieved A*, A and A while undertaking a wide range of duties throughout the year as Head Boy. He will now go on to Birmingham University to study economics.

Ashton Bryan gained two As and a B and will study Psychology at the same university, while Chloe Gerrard and Ellie Day both achieved and A and two Bs. Tom Allsopp not only won a Gold Medal at the National Biology Olympiad – he also achieved an A* in Biology, plus two Bs.

Headmaster David Corran said: “I am delighted that every one of our A level students passed all their exams; they should be very proud of themselves.

“There were many fine individual performances, not just from the high-fliers but from all abilities.

“I would also like to thank and recognise the contribution of their parents who have guided and supported the students through what can be a very stressful time.

“Our students will enter higher education secure in the knowledge that they are building on firm foundations. We wish them all the best for the future and look forward to hearing of their continued success.”
