Police say a biker injured in a crash near Lichfield is in a critical condition.

A blue Yamaha motorbike and a silver Ford Fusion crashed on Birmingham Road in Shenstone, near the A5 junction, at 11am on Sunday (August 17).

The motorcyclist, a 54-year-old man from the Oldbury area, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The occupants of the car were also treated at the scene.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson added: “The road was closed for approximately two-and-half hours whilst a detailed scene examination was carried out.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding whilst this took place.

“An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is now underway and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward. If you can help please call us on 101 quoting incident number 286 of August 17.”
