New community transport service launching in Burntwood

A new community transport service is being launched in Burntwood.

Burntwood Town Council is launching the Community Dial-a-Ride on September 1.

Trained volunteers will be driving the wheelchair accessible minibuses to help local people get around.

The service is being delivered in partnership with Lichfield District Council’s Community Transport Scheme.

A spokesperson said: “The new service will help people who might have difficulty accessing public transport, three days each week and a trip can be booked in advance.

“People wanting to use the service need to register in advance and purchase a book of tickets from the Town Council’s office on Bridge Cross Road, or by calling 01543 677166.

“Trips will cost £2 each way and passengers can be picked up from their homes and dropped at a number of locations such as Burntwood Leisure Centre and the medical centre, or Morrisions Supermarket, for example.”

For more information call Burntwood Town Council on 01543 677166. For details about volunteering with the service, call 01543 308165.
