Lichfield City FC bounce back with dominant win over Alvis Sporting

Lichfield City FC put their horror show against Nuneaton Griff behind them to claim all three points against Alvis Sporting.

Simon Bell’s men got off to the perfect start when Ahmet Bilgimer found the net in the very first minute.

Things nearly got better shortly afterwards when Ashley Evans’ effort squeezed just wide of the upright.

City were forced to reshuffle their defensive pack on ten minutes when Jon Huckfield was injured after a late challenge – and was immediately taken to hospital.

But the change didn’t interrupt Lichfield’s rhythm as the lively Bilgimer struck the post with Alvis struggling to find a foothold in the game.

The second goal duly arrived with half-an-hour on the clock when a good move saw Tom Howard extend his side’s lead.

Howard forced the visiting keeper into two good saves either side of the break, while the second period saw a number of good chances go begging for Lichfield.

But they finally added a third 12 minutes from time when Evans rifled home after a clever backheel from Howard.
