Lichfield City FC hoping to triumph in second historic FA Cup outing

Lichfield City FC will have their work cut out if they hope to build on their impressive FA Cup debut.

Simon Bell’s side made history after winning their first ever appearance in the competition by seeing off Black Country Rangers 3-1.

But a much sterner test awaits in the Preliminary Round as they travel to Leek Town on Saturday (August 30).

City’s opponents have enjoyed a 100 per cent start to their season in the Evo-Stik First Division South and find themselves top of the pile after four games.

Lichfield will be without defender Jon Huckfield after he suffered two broken ribs in his side’s 3-0 win over Alvis Sporting on Bank Holiday Monday.

But they will hope to spring an upset – an achievement that would also see them net prize money of almost £2,000 if they can pull it off.
