Lichfield City FC shock Alvechurch to cause FA Vase upset

Lichfield City FC upset the odds to secure an extra time victory over Alvechurch in the FA Vase.

Simon Bell’s men got off to the perfect start when Zac Horrobin opened the scoring in the second minute against the Midland Football League Premier Division outfit.

And things got even better after the restart when the lively Ahmet Bilgimer doubled Lichfield’s advantage.

But they were reminded of the threat Alvechurch posed when Jack Cresswell found the net in the 56th minute.

City looked to have thrown all their hard work away when Chris Hughes levelled things up five minutes later.

Both sides spurned chances before the game headed into extra time.

Fit again Liam Holt restored Lichfield’s advantage from the penalty spot after Bilgimer was sent tumbling.

And Holt ensured City progressed to the next round against Aston FC when he netted from ten yards in the second half of extra time.
