The empty Co-op store which is set to become a restaurant

Plans for a new Indian restaurant in Burntwood have been given the go-ahead.

The new business will occupy the former Co-Operative store at 3 Bridge Cross Road.

Lichfield District Council planners approved the change of use, despite objections from a resident living above the premises.

He said that the new restaurant would “diminish” the value of his property.

However, the restaurant – which is aiming to open between 5pm and 11pm seven days a week – has now been given the go-ahead.

Full details of the proposal can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
