Ridgeway Primary School pupils taking part in the Big Draw

Budding artists are being invited to take part in free art activities in Lichfield.

Taking place on Saturday (October 25) and Tuesday, the events form part of the Big Draw’s It’s Our World initiative.

The project has already seen professional artists running drawing workshops at local schools this month. The artwork from the school visits and the two free art events will go on display at Lichfield Library from October 28 to November 1.

Celia Houghton, arts development officer at Lichfield District Council who is helping to run the activities, said: “Getting involved in the Big Draw is a fantastic way to get the country drawing and creating art.

“The free activities in Lichfield offer local people the chance to rediscover their artistic side and we hope lots of people drop-in throughout the two days of activities and then don’t forget to visit the exhibition at the library too.”

The first workshop is being held at Three Spires Shopping Centre from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, with artist Saranjit Birdi demonstrating his ability to draw with his feet – and inviting visitors to do the same. Then Faye Binza will invite shoppers to contribute to two boards and help create a piece of art that will evolve throughout the day.

On October 28, Lichfield Library will invite children and adults to use their imaginations and draw their own world on large circles on the floor. The drop-in session is running from 10am to 4pm.
