The audience of students at South Staffordshire College got the chance to grill candidates ahead of the general election.

The event came in the wake of a similar public event at Lichfield Cathedral the night before.

Conservative candidate Michael Fabricant said: “The questions asked there were varied, intelligent, interesting and challenging. It gave me real hope for today’s youth.”

His view was echoed by Labour candidate Chris Worsey who said: “It was a fantastic event with great questions from really bright and engaged students.”

The candidates standing in the Lichfield constituency in May are:

  • Andy Bennetts – Class War
  • Michael Fabricant – Conservatives
  • Robert Pass – Green Party
  • John Rackham – UKIP
  • Paul Ray – Lib Dem
  • Chris Worsey – Labour
