Six men are in custody after street robberies in Lichfield.

The incidents happened on Birmingham Road near the Peugeot Garage between 6pm and 6.30pm yesterday (July 5).

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Both of the victims were young men who were on their own. They were approached by a group of around 10 young men who threatened them with a bladed instrument, believed to be a Stanley knife.

“One victim, a 15 year-old boy, was punched in the face and had his phone stolen. The second victim, aged 18, escaped without injury but had his headphones taken.”

Six people were later arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in custody.

Now offficers want to hear from anyone who saw a large group of youths in their mid to late teens on Birmingham Road at around the time of the incidents. Anyone with any information is asked to ring 101 quoting incident 666 of 5 July.
