Former midwie and nurse Julie Peters, who now works as a higher education teaching assistant and is a qualified dfyslexia tutor has launched her new company, The Learning Journey.

The 48-year-old is offering bespoke “multi-sensory” education packages.

She said she hoped to work with families in their own homes to help children develop their strengths and improve their skills in subjects they find more difficult.

“This is a subject that’s close to my heart,” she said. “Having had three children myself, I know how hard it can be for working parents to have the time to go the extra mile to help their child when evening consists of homework, reading, meal times, bath and then bedtime.

“I also know only too well how important quality and relaxing family time is during the school holidays. So, my aim to take this stress off parents’ hands.

“Each package of learning for each child will adhere to the national curriculum but we will work in a fun way to develop educational life strategies as well as improving knowledge, skills, self esteem and confidence too.”
