Two hat-tricks as Lichfield City FC demolish Pelsall Villa

Two Lichfield City FC players were left to battle it out for the matchball after hammering Pelsall Villa 8-0.

Tom Evans and Tony Clarke both bagged a treble as Gary Birch’s man ran riot in the Midland Football League Division One.

Just two points separated the sides at kick-off, but the gulf between them became clear after just two minutes when Evans netted to get City off to the perfect start.

The early strike was a sign of things to come as Evans, Clarke and Martin Crawford all went close in a frantic opening 15 minutes.

The second finally came after 26 minutes as Evans struck again – before completing his hat-trick just a minute later.

It was 4-0 through an own goal before Clarke got the first of his goals before the break.

Evans went close to a fourth after the restart, while Clarke doubled his personal tally on 49 minutes.

Two minutes later and it was a second hat-trick of the afternoon for Lichfield as Clarke wrapped up his treble.

Kennen Meakin Richards made it 8-0 to City with just 55 minutes on the clock as the visitors showed no signs of easing up on their hosts.

Lewis Bourne struck the post as Lichfield sensed double figures might not be out of the question.

Kyle Minto was denied by the keeper in a one-on-one before sending an effort wide of an open goal.

The result leaves Lichfield seventh in Division One, with games in hand on a number of clubs above them in the table.

They return to action next weekend (September 26) with a home game against Racing Club Warwick.
