Attractions throw open their door for Lichfield Heritage Weekend

Lichfield rolled back the years as the city celebrated its annual Heritage Weekend.

Attractions including the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum, Erasmus Darwin House, St John’s Hospital, St Mary’s in the Market Square all threw open their doors to welcome visitors.

The weekend also coincided with Samuel Johnson’s 306th birthday celebrations in Market Square.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet member for tourism, said: “Lichfield was packed over the weekend with people enjoying the many activities on offer.

“Thank you to all the heritage attractions that were involved in making it such a success, opening up their fascinating buildings and being a part of this annual event.”
