Appeal after cat is shot with an air rifle in Longdon

A cat has been shot with an air rifle in Longdon.

The eight-year-old ginger and white animal was found by his owner in Mill Way with a wound to his abdomen on the morning of September 24.

Vets found that a pellet had lodged into his pelvis. He has now being cared for at home.

RSPCA inspector Kate Levesley said: “Due to the pellet being lodged deep into his skin, this cat could have been shot with a high-powered rifle.

“He would have suffered a great deal of pain and would have been very distressed.

“This is a very upsetting time for the cat’s owners, who think the world of their pet. They have, however, been overwhelmed by the kindness of people in the community who have offered support to them since it happened.

“It is simply not acceptable to treat animals in this way. We would urge anyone with any information on this incident to call us in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.”
