Appeal after break-in at Tesco Express store in Lichfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at a Tesco Express store in Lichfield.

The Netherstowe shop was targeted at 3am on Wednesday (September 30).

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Offenders approached the closed and secure store during the night and forced open the front doors to gain access. Once inside they attacked a self-service till and a cash register.

“During the incident the ‘smoke cloak’ security device activated, disturbing the offenders, and forcing them to flee the premises.

“It is believed that the only item stolen was a bottle of whisky but damage was caused to the front doors and the self-service till.”

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 48 of 30 September.
