A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after crashing his bike near Lichfield.

He was riding along the A37 near Barton-under-Needwood at 10.30am today (October 4) when he came off and ended up in the central reservation.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man, who is in his thirties, had a serious wound to his left arm.

“The first ambulance crew on scene applied a tourniquet to his arm. They also decompressed his chest for he had suffered a collapsed lung.
