The 17-year-old John Taylor High School student said: “I love the thrill of playing in international competitions and meeting people from many different countries.”

Rebecca will now focus on the Scottish 4-Nations Tournament in Glasgow next February as she continues her quest to be selected for Tokyo 2020.

Councillor Andy Smith said: “This is such an achievement, and a massive well done to Rebecca.

“It’s brilliant that we now have a World Parabaminton gold and silver medallist training at Friary Grange Leisure Centre. We all wish her the very best of luck in all future championships and will no doubt be seeing her compete in the Tokyo Paralympics.”
